چکیده
One can check that every tree which is finite is also finite-order. The following propositions are true: (1) For every decorated tree t holds t ε = t. (2) For every tree t and for all finite sequences p, q of elements of such that p q ∈ t holds t (p q) = t p q. (3) Let t be a decorated tree and let p, q be finite sequences of elements of . If p q ∈ dom t, then t (p q) = t p q. A decorated tree is root if: (Def.1) dom it = the elementary tree of 0. Let us note that every decorated tree which is root is also finite. The following three propositions are true: (4) For every decorated tree t holds t is root iff ε ∈ Leaves(dom t). (5) For every tree t and for every element p of t holds t p = the elementary tree of 0 iff p ∈ Leaves(t).

MML Inference of Oblique Decision Trees
We propose a multivariate decision tree inference scheme by using the minimum message length (MML) principle (Wallace and Boulton, 1968; Wallace and Dowe, 1999). The scheme uses MML coding as an objective (goodness-of-fit) function on model selection and searches with a simple evolution strategy. We test our multivariate tree inference scheme on UCI machine learning repository data sets and com...
متن کاملDecision Forests with Oblique Decision Trees
Ensemble learning schemes have shown impressive increases in prediction accuracy over single model schemes. We introduce a new decision forest learning scheme, whose base learners are Minimum Message Length (MML) oblique decision trees. Unlike other tree inference algorithms,MMLoblique decision tree learning does not over-grow the inferred trees. The resultant trees thus tend to be shallow and ...
متن کاملInferring Phylogenetic Graphs for Natural Languages using MML
Languages, like everything around us, evolve and change over a period of time. The aim of this report is to be able to model this evolution that occurs between natural languages. We introduce the idea of inferring phylogenetic (or evolutionary) models for natural languages using the MinimumMessage Length (MML) principle. Phylogenetic models show the evolutionary interrelationship among various ...
متن کاملA Contribution of Intrinsic Speech Variabilities to Errors Done by Speech Recognition
A usual way of ASR accuracy evaluation is calculation of Word Error Rate (WER) and Sentence Error Rate (SER). The misrecognitions that contribute to WER are classified into three categories: deletions, insertions and substitutions. The paper presents a study about a contribution of intrinsic speech variabilities to the each of the error category. Decision tree (DT) analysis is used. Five DT sty...
متن کاملChange-Point Estimation Using New Minimum Message Length Approximations
This paper investigates the coding of change-points in the information-theoretic Minimum Message Length (MML) framework. Changepoint coding regions affect model selection and parameter estimation in problems such as time series segmentation and decision trees. The Minimum Message Length (MML) and Minimum Description Length (MDL78) approaches to change-point problems have been shown to perform w...
